Personal Learning

For students to:

  • Explore and practise skills and behaviours which support learning
  • Develop the capacity to monitor their own learning, identifying strengths and areas requiring improvement
  • Learn with peers including seeking and responding appropriately to feedback
  • Manage own learning and growth by setting goals, articulating achievements and managing resources
  • Recognise and enact appropriate values for lifelong learning

Personal Learning has two dimensions:

  • The individual learner
  • Managing personal learning

The individual learner focuses on students developing knowledge about their personal characteristics and capabilities, and those they need to develop to support their approaches to and reflections about learning.

Managing personal learning focuses on the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to enable successful management of personal learning. Skills include goal setting, time and resource management, task achievement and increasing independence.
