Global Citizenship

Creating Global Citizens is extremely important to us at Kananook Primary School. There are three ways we aim to do this:

Firstly, studying other cultures, their history, language and their way of life opens up our minds to think globally.
  • The Hindi language will be offered as part of this study.
  • Connecting with other local schools involved in the cultural exchange program such as Monterey Secondary College and Mahogany Rise Primary School
Secondly, opening our doors to other cultures.
  • Hosting students and teachers from a culturally diverse country such as India creates a human connection, which is priceless. During Term 2 teachers and students from India spend 10 days with our students and teachers providing us with invaluable knowledge and friendship.
Thirdly, participating in International exchanges;
  • Experiencing the excitement of new cultures, engaging with a diverse community of students and by visiting and living in an international city is the makings of an engaged and powerful global citizen! During Term 3 a group of students and teachers have the opportunity to spend 10 days in India. Experiences include visiting the Taj Mahal and the cities of Agra and Old Delhi. Having home stays and spending time at an Indian school are among the opportunities offered.
