Having an Auslan teacher at our school is about far more than learning another language, it’s about building a culture of inclusion, empathy, and real-world communication skills.
Auslan (Australian Sign Language) gives students the ability to communicate with members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community, while also helping them better understand different ways people experience the world. Students develop stronger visual awareness, concentration, and non-verbal communication skills, which research shows can also support literacy and social development
